Behind the Scenes

Leveraging Our Collective Effort to Offer Free Stays for Cancer Patients in Treatment via the Hope Lodge and The American Cancer Society

Why We’re Doing This

As Kellogg alumni in Atlanta, we are committed to using our time, talent, and treasure to make a difference in our city.

We’re excited to announce our second annual Purple Tie Event, benefiting the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.

Hope Lodge provides cancer patients and their caregivers with a free, welcoming place to stay while traveling for treatment—keeping them close to the care they need and surrounded by support.

Be a part of this historical experience -- either by partnering with us as a sponsor, attending the event, donating an auction item, or bidding in the auction.

ANNUAL IMPACT OF THE ATLANTA HOPE LODGE

  • 1,211 cancer patients and their families

  • 30,692 free nights of lodging

  • $3,760,000 saved in hotel costs

  • 2,465 free rides provided

What We’re Doing and More about Hope Lodge

We invite you to an exclusive evening of philanthropy, networking, and celebration, uniting our alumni community for an unforgettable cause.

Facing cancer is hard. Having to travel out of town for treatment can make it even harder. Our Hope Lodge communities provide free, temporary lodging for people facing cancer and their caregivers when treatment is far from home. Each year, approximately 200,000 cancer patients must travel 40+ miles to treatment.

American Cancer Society Hope Lodge helps people with cancer be close to vital treatment when they need it most. Hope Lodge communities also support over 225 referring hospitals, as well as the local economies in more than 30 locations.

Hope Lodge is more than a place to sleep. As unique non-medical facilities, our network of Hope Lodge communities serve as a nurturing community that helps patients access the care that they need in a supportive homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join activities, or unwind in their own private room.

The American Cancer Society Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Atlanta Hope Lodge, which opened in 1998 and renovated in 2021, offers 57 guest rooms located near treatment centers in the area.
